Davidson Center for Space Exploration

When the USSRC started restoring their Saturn V in June 2005, there were no firm plans for a building to serve as its permanent home; at that time, there was to be a temporary building (similar to what was done with JSC's Saturn V).

However, plans were soon drawn up for a permanent building, and by July 2006 ground had been broken on the "Saturn V Visitor Complex and Intermodal Center". Within a year, Dorothy and Julian Davidson announced their sponsorship, and the facility first became the "Davidson Saturn V Center" and later the "Davidson Center for Space Exploration," and the "intermodal" was dropped.

The first two stages of the Saturn V were moved into the building over the course of four days, with the third stage, SLA, and boilerplate command module soon followed. Since the building's grand opening on January 31, 2008 (the 50th anniversary of the launch of Explorer I, America's first satellite), most of the Saturn- and Apollo-related exhibits have been moved from the "old" museum to the Davidson Center.

As of now, I have not yet sorted through all of my pictures of the Davidson Center, but some other page references this location. Thus, this is a "place holder" version right now, with only the pictures actually referenced. Come back some time later to see if I've finished up, or drop me an email to request me to prioritize the rest of these pictures.
