Prior to the museum's renovation in 2008/09, a Liberty Bell 7 display was located just inside the main gallery's doors. Among the items displayed was a panel containing components removed from the spacecraft after it was raised from the ocean floor.

The attached plaque reads:

These Electrical and Power System Relays from Gus Grissom's Liberty Bell 7 Mercury spacecraft are presented to the Spring Mill State Park by the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center.

By summer 2008, this artifact had been taken off display.
